1. My DIY, Student Budget Bedroom Makeover.

I felt a bit guilty being an interior designer living in a boring, uninspiring bedroom, so I spent the last few days working on a few things to jazz it up. Take a look…

First I made some art to go on my walls. See previous post on how to make the Nikau Wall Art yourself :)

On the desk is a work-in-progress picture for my wee nephew’s 1st brithday. It’s not just a snail - it’s a powelliphanta snail, native to Aotearoa :P

I made these drawers look a bit more funky by adding wallpaper on the drawer front in a checker-board effect. Looks really seamless if you use double sided tape.

I love notice boards that look like a big explosion of colour, pattern and memories. I used wallpaper samples (did i mention i love wallpaper?!) to cover the board and then pinned magazine cut-outs, photos and key chains all over the place. In the foreground is a face cloth that i got from my Japanese host family. It is has my birthday, star sign, and birth stone ^_^ plus its Hello Kitty!!

I jazzed up my boring second-hand lamp shades with japanese Washi Tape bought from http://www.trademe.co.nz/.
